Maruo Kaido vs. Uwan Family is a brawl between the human Maruo Kaido and the Ayashimon Uwan Family.

Prelude[]

Maruo punches a gangster into the air

Maruo rescues Urara.

After Urara is caught spying on the Uwan Family, they start chasing her. Eventually, the chase brings them to Maruo Kaido, who takes the opportunity into his hands and steps in to help. One of the yakuza members attempts to punch him, but Maruo knocked his assailant into the nearby tree with a single nonchalant strike. Maruo proceeds to beat up the remaining members of the gang that were chasing Urara, disappointed at how easy it was. Urara makes use of this opportunity and tells Maruo to run away. As they do, Uwan shows up and decides to follow them.[1]

As Urara and Maruo find an alleyway, they take a breather and the Ayashimon girl offers the human boy a chance to become a member of her yakuza family. Maruo punches the nearby wall, cracking it and confirming that Urara is a real yakuza, since she didn't flinch. Maruo explains that he wants to be a manga protagonist, telling her the origin of his superhuman strength. When his tale is finished, Urara is shocked to discover that Maruo is human. In the meantime, the entire Uwan family catches up to them.[2]

Battle[]

Uwan Family

"Uwan Family, direct subsidiary of the Enma Syndicate."

Uwan's underlings jump at Urara, but Maruo manages to rescue her in a nick of time. Uwan proceeds to introduce his family as a subsidiary of the Enma Syndicate, right as him and his minions begin transforming into their yokai forms. Urara warns Uwan that killing Maruo now would go against the accord, but the opposing oyabun openly expresses his unwillingness to follow it. Uwan orders his family to capture Urara and kill Maruo as one of his underlings slashes the nearby wall. The oyabun introduces him as Amikiri, before introducing Onigama and Roujinbi, who would eliminate the evidence.[3]

Maruo's Strength

Maruo easily lifts a car.

Urara decides to take this opportunity to openly call Uwan's family out on how far the Enma Syndicate has fallen. She calls them punks and gives Maruo a chance to run away, but he asks her to stop and gets hit in the face by Onigama's tongue. Maruo begins reminiscing about his childhood before he smashes into a nearby car. As the human boy continues reminiscing, he realizes that one of his molars cracked and what was happening now was a real fight. The battered Maruo gets excited and lifts the car he smashed into, throwing it at the Ayashimon and asking if he looks like a manga protagonist.[4]

Duel[]

Maruo's Kamehameha

Maruo beheads Uwan with a single punch.

Uwan orders his underlings to set up the ring for a one-on-one duel. As the gangsters gather around Uwan and Maruo, they begin chanting the word "one-on-one" repeatedly. Maruo doesn't understand what's going on, but he does not lose his fighting spirit either. Uwan begins transforming into his yokai form, ready to fight the human. Maruo feels inspired to use a move of his own too, deciding to bring out his own version of Goku's Kamehameha. The boy punches Uwan's head off, ending the duel in just a single deadly strike.[5]

All-Out Brawl[]

Uwan's underlings are all shocked to see their boss killed, but Maruo's fighting spirit is still burning, calling the other gangsters to come at him all at once. The yakuza members try attacking him at the same time, but to no avail. The further details of this battle are unclear, but Maruo manages to slaughter the entire Uwan family, using nothing but his bare fists.[6]

Aftermath[]

Maruo and Urara exchange blood

The loyalty ceremony.

When the coast is clear, Maruo bows to Urara and asks her to accept him as her underling. The Ayashimon girl mentions how unprecedented a human member in a yokai yakuza is, but accepts him. The two exchange blood with each other, completing their loyalty ceremony.

Urara then decides to lead Maruo to a place where Ayashimon from all across Japan gather, the number one red "lantern" district in the East-Shinjuku's Kabukicho. At that point, she reveals to her newfound human underling that all conflicts between the Ayashimon denizens there are handled by one-on-one ritual duels. Maruo asks her to repeat the part about the duels, mostly to hype himself up for his new life as a yakuza member.[7]
