Overview |
Tamagawa (
He is the primary antagonist of the Kori Hotel Arc in Ayashimon.
Appearance[]
Human[]
As a human, Tamagawa appears as a slim man with glasses and slicked dark hair, along with a single light-colored bang in front of his face. He is shown dressed in formal wear.
While serving as an executive member of the Enma Syndicate, Tamagawa wore the standard uniform of the syndicate, which is a dark suit with a light shirt and dark tie.
Personality[]
Tamagawa highly comes off as a yokai who views everything as a transaction, as he believes that money is the source to living another day of one's life and so on. When conducting business, Tamagawa acts on the concept of "time is money", in which he views time as being precious and makes it a rule for himself not to waste it on others. Before starting a meeting, Tamagawa will openly pull out a stopwatch to give himself a small amount of time to conduct a successful negotiation. In terms of going about it, Tamagawa gets straight to the point of things and refuses to repeat himself to his attendees since it will only waste more of the precious time he has left when speaking. He also has no business talking to a third party if they have not been scheduled to meet with him; however, he is willing to answer any sudden questions from them if he deems that they are good enough to answer.
Underneath his gentleman-like demeanor when speaking to others, Tamagawa's true nature is that of an extremely sadistic, cruel, and merciless individual who is no stranger to subjecting his enemies to extreme torture. To gain the upper hand against his enemies, Tamagawa uses his subordinates to research every single detail about them in order to exploit their weaknesses in a confrontation, such as when he transformed into Doppo to fight Maruo after learning that he was defeated by the Ayashimon. His cruelty, however, does not come without reason, as everything he does is for the sake of Gyobu-Danuki and for protecting the Kori Hotel.
As manager of Kori Hotel, Tamagawa only has the hotel's best interest at heart. Mindful of the guests, Tamagawa ordered his subordinates to fight off the Todoroki Alliance without causing a scene that may tarnish the hotel's reputation. After being pushed back into a corner against Maruo in a ritual duel, Tamagawa showed his conviction in keeping the hotel safe by allowing the Conceptual Transformation to take over. However, this act of recklessness only proved to be less than beneficial as Tamagawa had gone berserk as Doppo and attacked both friend and foe.
Tamagawa is also very cautious and well-prepared. Before hosting a meeting with Kotton to negotiate in having the Todoroki Alliance leave Shinjuku, Tamagawa hired human exorcists to perform a sealing ritual in case the biker gang leader refused to comply, which he ended up having to do. After learning from Kotton that the Todoroki Alliance is under Urara's command, Tamagawa took this little piece of information seriously and ordered Inari to do a background check on her, as well as Ten who was simply there to accompany her.
History[]
At some point, Tamagawa joined the Kori Hotel and became its manager. After the Kori Hotel chose to align themselves with the Enma Syndicate, Tamagawa was chosen as general manager Gyobu-Danuki's representative and became seated as one chairman Kio's top executives.
After Kio's death, Tamagawa attended his funeral where the official reading of the chairman's will was to be read before all the other executives. At the event, the Tamagawa and the other members of the Enma Syndicate learned from Doppo Akari that the will had him appointed as the next chairman of the syndicate. Following Kio's death, Tamagawa and the Kori Hotel defected from the Enma Syndicate.
Synopsis[]
Kori Hotel Arc[]
With the Kori Hotel viewing the Todoroki Aliance as a potential hindrance to their business, Tamagawa sends out Inari as his messenger to bring the Todoroki Alliance leader Kotton over to the hotel to negotiate in having his gang relocate to the Kansai region.
After he arrives, along with bringing his comrades Urara and Ten, Tamagawa remotely converses with Kotton through the television screen in his room and gets right to the point as to why he wanted to meet with him. Speaking for Kotton, Urara dismisses Tamagawa's proposal to have the Todoroki Alliance vacate Shinjuku since they need to focus on stopping the Enma Syndicate from taking over Kabukicho, to which Kotton complies with after telling Tamagawa that the Todoroki Alliance is now under her command. Taking note of this fact, Tamagawa orders Inari to later perform a background check on Urara and Ten and write out a report. Having not come to an agreement, Tamagawa has the three trapped in their room and calls on the human exorcists he hired earlier to perform a sealing ritual. Tamagawa informs them that he plans to have them sealed for about a century and relocate them to the Kansai region by force. He also informs them that any attempts at trying to escape the hotel will be impossible due it being comprised of general manager Gyobu-Danuki's scrotum that is extremely durable enough to withstand harmful activities.
Later, Tamagawa becomes informed that the Todoroki Alliance have surrounded the hotel, which meant for him that they figured out that the Kori Hotel is holding their allies hostage. While heading down to the lobby to confront the gang, Tamagawa orders the employees to fight off their enemies inconspicuously in order to not disturb their guests. As the battle commences, Tamagawa becomes wary of Maruo and orders a background check on him. After managing to clear the lobby of the guests by creating a cover up, Tamagawa challenges Maruo to a ritual duel to settle matters, to which he accepts.
Having learned from his sources earlier that Maruo was defeated by Doppo Akari in a past confrontation, Tamagawa uses the Conceptual Transformation to transform into Doppo and gain the upper hand against Maruo. However, this becomes short-lived as Maruo uses his new power to punch right through Doppo's hitorima flames and lands a punch on Tamagawa. The manager then finds himself in trouble as he knows that the longer he stays in his transformation the more he is at risk of losing his senses to become exactly like Doppo but worries that the Kori Hotel will fall if he does not continue. Upon remembering his leader's words of creating a home for his comrades, Tamagawa ultimately decides to let the transformation take ahold of his body and mind by assuming Doppo's yokai form, resulting in Tamagawa going berserk as the Doppo clone not only attacks Maruo but anyone around.
After coming up with the idea of grabbing Tamagawa's soul out of the Doppo clone, Maruo works with his gang and the Todoroki Alliance to free Tamagawa. Having succeeded with their plan, the Kori Hotel manager lies down on the floor unconcious.
Abilities and Powers[]
Yojutsu[]
Shapeshifting: As a tanuki, Tamagawa is able to assume the form of anyone or anything he pleases.
- Conceptual Transformation (
概 念 変 化 Gainen Henge?): A forbidden technique of the tanuki race where they are able to not only shapeshift into an individual of their choosing but copy every aspects of their being, such as abilities, essentially turning themselves into an exact clone of said individual. This technique, however, runs the risk of having the transformation remain permanent if the user stays too long in the form and also results in their mind becoming warped to be exactly like the person they are duplicating. Tamagawa used this technique to turn into Doppo Akari in order to fight back and gain the upper hand against Maruo in a ritual duel. After being pushed back into a corner, Tamagawa chooses to submit to the drawbacks of the transformation, resulting in him being turned into a clone of Doppo.
